Problem turning some units on go down to 49%.

Postby mwolze » Sun Sep 16, 2012 9:44 pm

I have a problem with some units that I have that are wall switch and lamp units. I have about 30 devices in my system but I have 4 or 5 that I cannot just turn them on, the only way to get them to turn on is to press the bright button first and the unit comes on to full brightness. If I press the on button the iPhone reports SEND PLC E11ON then jumps immediately down to 49%.
The log files where I turn and off E1 then try the same operation with the on and of and also with with the dim. I see that it is polling the device and something sends back the 49 but I cant figure out how to stop it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I highlighted the line where I suspect the problem is.

This line you hightighted....

Code: Select all
9/16/2012 9:39:23 PM [ INFO] EVENT ActiveHome: bszAction:"RecvPlc", bszParm1:e11, bszParm2:ExtCode, bszParm3:49, bszParm4:62, bszParm5:

Noticae param 3 sent back from your AcitveHome module is 49. This EVENT is the event received from the ActiveHome module itself. So even though the iPhone told the E11 to turn itself ON the ActiveHome module reported back to us the brightness is 49%.

I am not sure why other than it is something specific with those type of modules you are using.

I am having the problem with 4 modules, 3 of them are wall switches and 1 is a plug in lamp module. What is puzzling is that the software looks like it is trying to use that 49 to dim it down to 49% but it dose neither turn on the lamp or turn and dim down. When I click on it just jumps right down to 49% and shows that it is on at 49%. This is why I focused on the 49 in the log. I have these same modules in many areas of the home and no problems there. I have a few other lamp modules I will try in the next day or so to see if the results are the same. I will also test with a existing one re assigned.
Thanks

Yeah that is really strange. But you have it narrowed down to specific devices so not sure why they would act differently than other identical ones in your network. Sounds like you have some Sherlock Holmes sleuthing to do.

It is affecting more units than I thought. I had not tested the basement. I am wondering if my use of XPCR X10 PRO Signal Amplifier Coupler Repeater could be part of the problem. I exchanged to Identical units and the problem did not follow the units. So it maybe a phase linking issue. Also the units in my basement are on a different house code. I will open my panel later in the week and check this out, still very strange.

Well I disconnected the XPCR today and the device was not the problem either. But removing it also revealed that the system does not work quite as well either. I did add one module and XPDF and this really screwed the result. This module came on and still reporter the 40% on the iPhone so now I am more confused at to why it turned on and reported the 49%. Anyway the XPCR is back since that does not appear to be the problem.

So has a reason been found...? I am experiencing the same issue.

I, too, am having this problem. It started when a virus/malware program knocked out my AHP installation and I've been trying to re-install it ever since. I was successful with both the AHP download and European version, but the units are inconsistent with their control from the PC and macros addressing them. I determined that the non-responsive units also went to 49% on the Commander. So I believe the problem is with AHP, not Commander. I replaced the CM15A, but no difference other than I now have an extra CM15A and am out $50.

With so much leftover detritus on my PC, I think the next thing I'll try is a clean install on another computer and point my router to its fixed IP address.

If anybody has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them!

I finally got everything working again and this may or may not be the reason for my 49% problem since I changed so much. But I think the major change was to make sure that each module was configured to work as intended from the computer interface. The most frequent change was to set the module to "older lamps (no soft start)" with "lamp module" as the module type.

Now I have to figure out what happened to Smart Macros...they seem to have disappeared.
