[SOLVED] Z-Wave Help

Postby ATantry » Fri Sep 23, 2011 10:36 am

Hi All!

I recently bought a SchlageLink Lock(Z-Wave enabled)[BE369] and an Intermatic (Home Settings)HA-22 Z-Wave stick for my company.
I was wondering if anyone could guide me in anyway as to how to control the Lock with the Z-Wave stick.
I found the drivers for Windows 7 through which I can open a COM Port to the Z-Wave Stick(although I don't know the baud rate or any other settings for this stick).
I found the driver for Linux as well but was not able to install it on my laptop. The driver description says it does the same as the Win 7 driver ie- open a COM Port for communication.[I will install X10 if need be. Right now using Ubuntu 11.04].
My main intention is to program the lock using the stick and be able to open and close the lock as well as receive notifications of the lock being opened etc.
Any kinda advice or help provided would be very useful to my cause.

Thanks

I am moving this to the Zwave forums.

As for your issue the Schlage locks are "secure" devices which is a newer Zwave protocol. THe only companies that allow remote communication and control of the Schlage that I know of are the Schlage 12$ a month service and the Micasa Verde Vera.

Your better bet is to ask this on the Open Zwave forums if they have added Schlage Lock support from the HA22 yet.

Thanks for the link.

I will be purchasing the 'Aeon Labs Z-Wave Z-stick Series 2 USB stick' ...

I will also be purchasing a lamp module for initial testing of connections- Homemanagables HM-LM Z-Wave lamp Module.
http://store.homeseer.com/store/Homeman ... 06C40.aspx

And then try connecting to the lock(probably try to contact the Schilage vendor/representative and ask them a few questions).

Any suggestions if I should go for something else in terms of connecting to the lamp module?

If it is just for testing ANY Zwave lamp module will do. Even a cheap one.

I do recommend once you start going nuts and doing lights all over your house the Leviton Vizia RF+ devices are the most expensive but I have found them to be of the highest quality and reliability.
