I dont have a clue how to set up this program

Forum to discuss MonkeyTunes DACP Server for MediaMonkey

Please help!!!

Postby windcrest77 » Thu Sep 19, 2013 10:54 pm

Hi,

I just installed the exe on my PC. Now how do get my iPad to go into something called pairing as described on the download page. I'm not an Apple person, I just got this iPad yesterday is there an instruction manual on how to install Monkey Tunes on the iPad? I already installed the half that goes onto the PC and see the Monkey Tunes icon in the media tree there. Please help whats going on here? If this program works I'll gladly buy it, but if it takes 20 days to get it working my free evaluation period will run out. I see absolutely no instructions on installing Monkey Tunes on my iPad, nor did I find the Monkey Tunes app in the Apple store.

Thanks

I dont have a clue how to set up this program

Postby windcrest77 » Fri Sep 20, 2013 7:11 pm

OK I installed the program on my PC and it shows up in the media tree. I also bought my first Apple product ever, an iPad. The iPad works fine for browsing, mail, etc. Now what app do I need to install on the iPad in order for Monkey Tunes to control my PC Media Monkey? The instructions are incredibly unclear about how to get that "pairing" thing to actually happen.

Please help, this is my second post of this question, the first one was awaiting "approval" (sheesh), what's there to approve?, this is a support forum. Does this product have support? I do hope this post gets to the forum, I may really want to buy this thing since bought an iPad specifically for the purpose of finding a way to control media monkey remotely.

Thank you

1. I manually review and approve first time posters like yourself to prevent spam bots.

2. The instructions are actually quite clear. You need the app "Apple Remote" for your iPhone which is FREE from the iTunes appstore.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/remote/id284417350?mt=8

3. Then simply follow the instructions....

Now I'm getting the message that my "trial period" has expired. Am I out of luck as to being able to evaluate the program before I buy it? The reason I am investigating this program s because the other program am using "Monkey Mote" is having serious issues staying connected so I wanted to see if this works better. How can I evaluate this, I installed it a while ago, then finally bought an iPad, now that I have an iPad it seems to have expired since a few days ago. I don't want to buy something unless I can prove, over time, that the connection will stay solid and intact for days on end. Monkey Mote is losing connection after one song plays, so need an alternative to control my receiver connected media server within the home.

Thanks

OK I installed the license, I no longer get the license error whenever I launch Media Monkey. However I cannot get that "Add Library" page to show up on the iPad, nor do I ever get any messages in Media Monkey asking me to enter a passcode. If I go to that "Remote" program and select "Add an iTunes Library" it gives me something similar however that is telling me I have to use iTunes and select "Richards iPad". Otherwise I cant figure out how to enter my passcode, the pop up from Add an iTunes Library is protected I cant change the numbers in the passcode.

Totally confused, I'm not an Apple user, maybe this is easy, but I still have no clue what buttons to push and where and when.

I did install that "Remote" program on the iPad too.

Double checked everything is installed including the Bonjour Print Services on Windows

I've read the instruction 10 times, installed everything it asked for, still no Monkey Tunes. Can anyone make this real easy for me?

The first line of the instruction say to "begin the pairing process"... First of all what is "the pairing process"? And how, exactly, do "begin" it? I think once I get past step one I can maybe do this, doubtful, but maybe.

You are having firewall or network issues then....

The screens should look exactly like the screenshots at the bottom of this page....

If when you are on the 4 digit pairing screen and your device does not show up in the MonkeyTunes treenode you are having network/firewall issues.

Hi,

OK I reinstalled Media Monkey to fix the COM object errors...

I FINALLY got the pairing process to happen and I entered the passcode in media monkey and it took it. My iPad name is in the media monkey tree now. The instructions say "After connecting you now have full player control over MediaMonkey. Play, Pause, Next, Previous, and Volume Control!"

My next question is what application on the iPad do I click to see Monkey Tunes? To change songs, playlists, etc? I am now "paired" however I still don't see Monkey Tunes popping up on my iPad. Do I need to install anything else besides "Remote" on the iPad? Where exactly is the Monkey Tunes program and how do I get it to launch?

Thanks for all your help so far, I think I'm close to getting this all to actually work. I do have a secondary problem in that the connection is lost when my iPad screen saver goes on (if that's what Apple calls it when it goes back to the home screen automatically, I set my iPad to never go to sleep and never require a pass code in order to fix this issue though). My main issue now is just to get the Monkey Tunes program to launch on the iPad. I tried clicking the "Music" icon but that just tells me I have no content and that have to go shopping at the iTunes store.

The instructions dont indicate what to click on the iPad after the pairing process is completed. That seems like an important thing to include in the instructions, because I'm not seeing Monkey Tunes and it is apparently all "paired".

Thanks
Rick

More info, I deleted all the firewall and router rules that I entered from that other thread about port opening. I get the same results, the pairing process works but the log gets this error:

The error above "192.168.10.111:54354" is trying to call back to your iPad and that connection is being blocked by your firewall, router etc...

So after you pair MonkeyTunes then calls back to the originating device (your iPad) and that communication is being blocked according to the error above.
