Bonjour service not discovered on some network

Postby balaji » Thu Jun 04, 2015 6:37 am

Hi,
I have been using zeroconf-browser to discover bonjour service on my network. Recently i changed my router to Netgear and after which i am unable to discover bonjour service. Is there any router level configuration required to discover service?

No everything works on UDP on port 5353. Unless your router is blocking "multicast" traffic or UDP 5353 traffic?

Thanks for the reply. I checked my router configurations for blocking of UDP on port 5353 or if multicast is disabled, there is no specific rule to block UDP or disable multicasting. Its drives me curious as to what is changed between routers that the service isn't discovering now. Is there anything specific i am missing here?

I don;t think so. Basically all of Bonjour is just multicast UDP 5353 traffic. So as long as the router is allowing that traffic its what makes services "discoverable".
