Change "Recent"-location

Postby mlwul62 » Thu Feb 07, 2013 4:38 am

I keep all my personal documents stored in a password protected containerfile (TrueCrypt type).
Also I want to use recent files-option (like those of Word and Excel), i.e. when I open Excel and click on "Open Recent File" button, a list of recent files are being displayed.

However, I donot want links to those files be visible when doing a search on the C-drive: often links are stored under \Recent\ files folder, or some \Roaming\ folder.
The names of the files usually give some hints as to the nature/contents of those files.

Is it possible to store recent documents-folder IN the container for specific programs.
I.e. for specific programs, texteditor, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, the \Recent\folder to be stored in a TrueCrypt container, so nothing will be displayed when searching on C.

Am not sure if it is possible...

Thank you!

That is definitely not possible. The limitations of the places bar are essentially 5 global registry entries for ALL apps, and then 5 special ones for Office.

So a per application PlacesBar is not possible due to MS limitations.

Thanks a lot.

Well, bad luck :-(

One last question: is it the number of entries that is posing the problem?
e.g. when I want to change the location of the recent list to the truecrypt container for -say- just 2 Office application (Word/Excel)
would then be possible ?
You will then be using 2 out of 5 applications, well within the limits of PB.

If it is not possible, well, am afraid, I should forget it.

Once again nope. That office places is for MS Office in general so Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, etc. You can't say which apps you want it for its either ALL Office apps or none.
