Send Bitwise commands on launch?

Postby ngarong » Sun Oct 23, 2011 3:16 pm

Hi:

Is there any interface to send commands to a Bitwise device before the app attempts to connect to the PC? I'd like to have the Bitwise device resume the PC from sleep and turn on the TV.

Thanks,

Tim

You mean Launch of the iPhone/Android app? The only way to wake a sleeping PC is with your BIOS set and using Wake On Lan (WOL) or Wake On USB.

But that is completely controlled by the motherboard and BIOS settings. THere are mobile apps for WOL though if you do have it set up so it can remotely wake your PC.

Sorry for not being clear in the question.

Yes, when the iPhone/Android app launches I would like to send commands to the Bitwise device before attempting to connect to the server running on the PC.

Here's the use case:

1. I would like a single mobile application to control the HTPC setup.
2. The HTPC is normally in the Sleep state.
3. The HTPC can be awaken via IR.
4. If I can send commands to the Bitwise device then I could wake the HTPC via IR.

Many application have pre/post processes. This would be a "pre" process where the app would send the IR commands via the Bitwise (or Global Cache or other ethernet/IR device), wait some number of seconds, and the attempt to connect to the server.

Thanks.
