[SOLVED] Buttons not recognised?

Postby rubbish9000 » Sun Dec 28, 2014 10:07 pm

Hello, I am using a Sony Vaio remote to use with mostly WMC and Plex, but most of the buttons are not recognised. Only default keyboard keys e.g. the number keys, enter, backspace, the arrow keys, etc. seem to do anything. When I first started the app a pop up notification appeared showing the WMC profile, and I've reset the application since then, and yet none of the specialised keys are being found.

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance

Do me a favor so I can verify your remote is actually supported by Intelliremote.

Run Start -> Prorgams -> Intelliremote -> HID Tester.

Now press every button on your remote and paste the output in this thread for me to examine.

Funnily enough, every button but those which work in WMC was detected.

Also, when I go into the "customize" menu and click "learn code", nothing happens when I press any button when I assume the splash screen should disappear on that event.

Ahh your remote PID was a new one we have never seen before. I have just added your remote to Intelliremote and released a BETA. Download and try this and now Intelliremote should be able to "Learn Code" no problem.

Let me know how it goes...

It mostly works now, but 2 issues remain:

1) 2 buttons IMO necessary for basic functionality, "previous" and "mute" are self-described as "crippled" and held behind a paywall, but that's perhaps another story entirely

2) Those same buttons that are basically keyboard buttons (number and arrow keys, enter, backspace, etc.) can't be reassigned, not that I want to though so it's not that big of a deal for me but figure you might like to know.

I guess it "works" as intended for the most part and I really do appreciate the personal assistance, but TBH I won't use this software given the first issue. I was thinking of changing over from iMon because of a couple of bugs that sometimes showed up, but I don't even know if it's iMon itself or hardware for sure and I can't even test it because this can't do what I need without paying $24 for something that may not even work for me (and all the other software I've found is shady, also behind a paywall, or something only dedicated linux fan could love). Sorry. The software looks alright and could have some advantages in some areas, but alas.

When you say the keyboard buttons can't be reassigned? So in the HID Tester when you press a "keyboard" button it does not spit out a HID code it just spits out the Keyboard entry like you pressed it on the keyboard?

If that is what you mean yes I am aware of that. Most remotes send HID command for every single remote button but some others like yours are hybrids where it sends HID data for Play and Pause etc but just sends keyboard keystrokes when you press say "1" on your remote. Intelliremote only intercepts the HID data it was not intended to be a keyboard keylogger.

If you do need that functionality there is a nice little app called AutoHotkey that can intercept keyboard commands and take action.

Anyway, thanks for trying it out!

I think that's right. No code or entry of any kind is shown, it just selects the next device in the device list if I press down, etc..
