Some keys on HP MCE remote cannot be learned

Postby newnews » Sat Mar 14, 2015 6:03 pm

I just purchased HP MCE remote. I found something strange. When I press some keys on the remote during "learning code', I can see IntelliRemote icon is flashing, but Learning Code window does not change status to "Learned", it is just nothing happening. The following keys have the problem: Visualization, Eject, Aspect, Slide Show.

Any advice?

Run Start>Programs->Intelliremote->HID Tester and press those buttons on your remote. Then paste the results from the bottom window here.

Just got time to test the remote. The code I got is:

Eject:
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 34
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 34 04 0F 80 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 00

visualization:
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 32
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 32 84 0F 80 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 00

slideshow:
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 33
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 33 04 0F 80 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 00

aspect(little bit strange):
press first time: I got:
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 27 84 0F 80 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Press 2nd time, I got:
HID (VID=$045E PID=$006D) = 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 27 04 0F 80 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Thanks

OK so your remote is "reflecting codes". Look at the second one and you will see the only code that is different is the 84 vs 04. So stop Intelliremote. Manually edit your profile XML file. and change that spot to be XX.

Code: Select all
01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 27 XX 0F 80 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

I cannot get it to work. For example the "Eject" button, I manually edit the xml file and now it looks like this:
<RemoteButton>
<Name>Eject</Name>
<HIDSignal>01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 34 04 0F 80 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00</HIDSignal>
<ButtonType>btScriptEvent</ButtonType>
<Script.Strings>
<Script.Strings.Item>CDTrayToggle(&quot;O:&quot;)</Script.Strings.Item>
</Script.Strings>
</RemoteButton>

I save the file and restart the PC. However, when I press "Eject" button, nothing is happening.

I don't see XX in your HID signal in your example above for the position that toggles?

Hi,

I have not yet try that one (aspect button which has two HID codes). Total 4 keys don't work, so I started with the "Eject" button only.

But they proabbly all have the same issue where it issues "reflecting codes". You need to put the XX where the part of the code where the bit flips.
