[SOLVED] iTunes problem with skip foward/back through movie

Postby Keylonta » Wed Sep 09, 2015 2:03 am

The shortcut keys for moving forwards/backwards through an iTunes movie is Control-Alt-Right/Left Arrow. This works fine when using my keyboard, but when I assign the key event to Intelliremote it doesn't work as expected. When the skip button is pressed repeatedly the shortcut works for about 2 presses, then it doesn't respond, then it goes to the next movie/song in the list. I tried a script but that didn't work either. Any ideas why it's not working?

I'm using iTunes 10.
Windows 7.

Your best bet is to go to Settings and turn Log Level = DEBUG.

Then continue to press your button in Intelliremote until it stops working. Then go to Settings and press Open Log File...

If you verify that Intelliremote is sending the correct key combination every time then the problem lies with iTunes. We have seen iTunes be weird because its actually port a MAC app that it doesn't always respect virtual keysrokes. It respects real keyboard keystrokes but for virtual keystrokes it would behave oddly.

I got it working with the following scripts (iTunes 10.7). Note that Tray Blink Rate must not be set lower than 300 for this to work.

Skip Forward
===========
Send("{CTRLDOWN}",0)
Send("{ALTDOWN}",0)
Send("{RIGHT}",0)
Sleep(200)
Send("{ALTUP}",0)
Send("{CTRLUP}",0)

Skip Back
========
Send("{CTRLDOWN}",0)
Send("{ALTDOWN}",0)
Send("{LEFT}",0)
Sleep(200)
Send("{ALTUP}",0)
Send("{CTRLUP}",0)
