Intelliservice stopped recognising MCE receiver

Postby aa111 » Fri Sep 09, 2016 3:45 am

Hi, I'm using Intelliremote with Logitech Harmony and MCE IR Receiver connected to Windows 7 64bit HTPC. Everything has been working fine for at least a few years, but now for no apparent reason I'm started having issues.

Intelliremote stopped responding to all IR commands (tray icon doesn't blink). Info tab shows "None" next to all device types. Windows itself seems to receive commands fine, and "HID Device Tester" also registers all remote presses.
If I stop and disable Intelliservice, then restart Intelliremote, Info tab now shows "Microsoft eHome Infrared Receiver" and does detect most button presses, but registers them as "Unrecognised Remote Command". If I re-start Intelliservice nothing gets detected again.

I tried re-installing Intelliremote, reinstalling IR Receiver drivers, plugging in different USB port, restarting PC, nothing makes any difference. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are my logs (with Intelliservice running):

Hmmm I wonder if a Windows 7 patch broke something? It looks like the Intelliservice is not working and it was working before to register the events from the receiver.

When you turn the service off Intelliremote is finding your MCE REmote but since you don't have the commands mapped it says "Uncrecognized REmote Command".

You would have to click "Learn" and press the button on your remote to teach that button to your profile.

Why the Intelliservice has stopped working with your remote I am not sure other than a Windows Patch has changed the behavior in some way?

I can't see any patches installed recently, only MS Malicious Software Removal Tool. But if it broke something I would think re-installing Intelliremote should fix it? If simple uninstall leaves some stuff behind, is there a way to do a complete uninstall?

I could also try updating to a more recent version of Intelliremote, I think my version if quite old. How can I get a link to download the latest versions?

OK, I upgraded Intelliremote to the latest version (2.8.8.931), but still having the same issue. Tried uninstalling some latest Windows patches, still nothing.
I can't really use Intelliremote wihout Intelliservice as it doesn't detect all MCE commands unless Intelliservice is running.
Anything else I could try to get Intelliservice working?

Sorry for hijacking your post, but I have a similar problem. Have a Soundblaster X-Fi card with built-in IR remote and it was working perfectly for many years. Since the Windows 10 Anniversary update I get absolutely nothing, tried relearning, etc. but nothing is working, no commands showing up on the Info tab....

Any suggestions?

I still have idea why Intelliservice suddenly stopped working. I went as far as reinstalling Windows 7 from scratch, also tried completely different IR receiver and still couldn’t get Intelliservice working.
What I did at the end was switch to another MCE IR receiver (original didn’t work properly without Intelliservice), disabled Intelliservice completely, and re-learned all commands.

Two different issues.

1. My guess is MSFT changed something with the MCe Driver in Win 10. Good move getting another receiver the MS receiver has been nothing but headaches for me.

2. As for the Creative X-Fi my guess is it is the driver that is missing? Have you tried the Start->Intelliremote->USB Tester to see if any output is coming from your X-Fi remote or if it is even recognized? Is it possible the receiver died? Check the batteries in the remote?
