[FIXED] Error: MediaMonkey Not Installed

Postby kskistad » Sat Sep 20, 2008 7:27 pm

I just installed the server part (iMonkey.exe) and when I run it, it says "MediaMonkey may not be installed on this computer." But MM is installed and is the latest version. I copied the iMonkey.exe file into the MM directory thinking that was the problem, but it didn't help. I also tried "Run as Administrator" but that didn't help either. When I open MM, it says "MM is opened, close and try again" but when it is closed, it doesn't detect it.

Class Not registered means I tried to open the MediaMonkey COM Automation Object and it could not be opened. So for some reason your MediaMonkey install did not install and register the COM object which iMonkey uses to control and listen to MediaMonkey. Maybe reboot your computer to see if that will register the COM object?

Let me know if a reboot fixes it.

Any luck with this? I am running MM 3.04 on Windows Vista and iMonkey runs no problem.

No, I am still having this problem. Can you tell me what component needs to be registered? Maybe I can register it manually with reg32

You can try to regsvr32 on MediaMonkey.exe is the only thing I can think of or MediaMonkey(non-skinned).exe

AWESOME! Yeah that is really weird. Also if you have purchased iMonkey and are interested in being a BETA tester for version 1.1 let me know. Next version will add ability to select from your predefined playlists and load that playist into the now playing as well as a Landscape mode when you turn the iPhone it will display the now playing in a more convenient easier to read way in larger font with small album cover....

I am marking this thread FIXED.

Just open a command prompt.

At the prompt type

Code: Select all
regsvr32 C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\MediaMonkey.exe

After that reboot and try iMonkey again. Let me know if that worked.

I tried what you recommended but it did not fix it. Could the problem be that I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit Premium?

I am running Vista 64 Ultimate and not having any problems. Are you Admin of your machine? It could be if you don't have the right privileges in Vista it won't let you install the COM Object. You could try reinstalling MediaMonkey as Admin? Or running the Command Prompt as Admin when you do "regsvr32" etc.

I am having the same problem. I have tried all of the steps above (regsvr32, reinstalling, and rebooting), but none of them fixes the problem. When I try to use regsvr32 I get the following message:

The module "MediaMonkey.exe" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
Make sure that "MediaMonkey.exe" is a valid DLL or OCX file and try again

I also get the same with "MediaMonkey (non-skinned).exe". I already bought iMonkey assuming that this would work like it is supposed to, but now it is just a useless app using up screen space on my iPhone. Could someone please help me get this fixed. :?:

MediaMonkey Version 3.0.4.1185
iMonkey Versions 1 and 1.1
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 (32-bit)

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
