Idea for new product - iMonkey for Netbooks? ?

Postby MediaMan » Sat Aug 22, 2009 11:26 am

Is there ( or could there be) such a thing as iMonkey for Netbooks? .. .

I currently use iMonkey on my iTouch, to control my desktop PC which runs MediaMonkey thru my home theatre. Works very nice and life is good!

I just bought an HP Mini netbook (1030) a lightweight portable wireless laptop running XP...its very cool...and I was thinking it would be great it I could load something like iMonkey on it, to, just like the iTouch, to control my desktop PC which runs MediaMonkey thru my home theatre.

I can do this in a cummbersome way by running Logmein on the netbook, and taking remote control of the desktop...so it is possible...just looking for a more elegant way. I was thinking iMonkey for Netbooks would be an ideal product!!

This is definitely possible since the same protocol I use to send Data to the iPhone could be used to create a Windows Thin Client. I just don't know when I will have time to get around to it!

For now, I've since tried TightVNC.. works pretty good in the absense of other options.

I just keep my music library on a NAS in my house and use a full blown install of MediaMonkey on my Netbook. Runs great, consumes a lot less power, and I can move it around the house to different playback locations, keeping my iTouch with me for remote control. HOWEVER, see my concerns on connectivity that I posted.
