[SOLVED] Can't Open Rivermote On IPhone

Postby jcr102 » Fri Jan 01, 2010 10:44 am

When I first opened Rivermote on my IPhone, I got a message saying the settings weren't correct. So I went to Settings and put in the local IP for the computer with Media Center 14 and the Rivermote server. With both open, I tried Rivermote again on the phone, but now it opens for a second or two, then closes. As this is happening, I notice the server in the tray icon briefly turning blue and back to red. I've tried changing the port, matching it on the server and IPhone settings, but it makes no difference. Any ideas?
Thanks.

There is a rivermote.log located next to the EXE. Can you paste that here?

That will help me.

Also make sure you have allowed Rivermote.exe through your firewalls like Windows Firewall.

I've placed the log information below. Rivermate is allowed in Norton Security's program control. And as far as I can tell, 6002 is open. netstat -a, a command you suggested in the top post, showed it listening.

Code: Select all

OK that all looks good. Now when you try and connect from the iPhone and it fails paste that log here.

OK according to this log it is not even connecting.

A couple of things..

It sounds like if the screen goes black when you try and connect from the iPhone that the application is actually crashing and not even starting.

1. What version of RiverMote on the IPhone are you using? It sounds like you should delete the app, re-sync with Itunes, then repurchase the app fresh. It won't charge you any more money as it knows you already purchased it. Is your phone jailbroken by any chance?

2. Try hard rebooting your phone.

3. Are you sure you have a WIFI connection on the iPhone when trying to connect?

Let me know how the above tests go.

I don't know what version I was using, but I deleted Rivermote on the IPhone and re-downloaded it from ITunes: this is version 1.6
My phone isn't jailbroken.

Then I re-booted the phone.

I'm sure I have a WiFi connection: it appears in the IPhone settings and is checked. The WiFi symbol also appears at the top of the phone.

I put my local IP into the Rivermote settings on the phone, then tried it, but bot the message "Server Error" 'Could Not connect to server. Check host 192.168.0.107 and port 6002 are correct in the main Settings application'.

I've added the latest log:

[1/1/2010 5:58:35 PM] INIT >RiverMote [STARTING]
[1/1/2010 5:58:35 PM] INIT >--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1/1/2010 5:58:35 PM] INIT >RiverMote Version: 1.5.0.181

[1/1/2010 5:58:35 PM] INIT >Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz

OK so that is good.

At least now the iPhone app is saying "Server Not Connected". That means your Iphone is not succesfully connecting to your PC on Port 6002.

I noticed your log file says your PC IP Address is "192.168.0.197" but the error you stated says "192.168.0.107". Did you accidentally enter .107 in the iPhone instead of .197?

Because according to your log your IP Address of your PC is..

Code: Select all
[1/1/2010 5:58:35 PM] INIT >IP Address: 192.168.0.197

My IP is 192.168.0.197 I accidentally put in .107 However, when I input the correct IP, it's back to oblivion: When I click on Rivermote on the phone, it just shows the program for a second, the server in the taskbar briefly turns blue then red and on the phone it returns to the desktop icons.

Yep according to this log entry....

Code: Select all

You are connecting and then the iPhone is immediately disconnecting. Very strange I have never seen this before.

Well, I'm stumped. I can't see what else I can do. If anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear them. Thanks.

Is there anyway you can try from another PC in the house? Just to take that out of the equation?

Re: Can't Open Rivermote On IPhone

OK well it if doesn't work from either your PC or laptop at least you are getting the same behavior. Now is that JRMC on both PC and laptop with the same collection of music or is one a blank fresh install?

Do you use Zones? Because it looks like the iPHone disconnects right after I send the Zones to the phone..

Code: Select all

Could it be a Zone with an invalid character or something like that?
