Connection Issues FAQ

If you are having connection problems trying to get EventPhone to connect to EventGhost here are some things to try.

1. Make sure EventGhost 0.3.7.r918 or higher. Anything lower will not work. Make sure you have the EventPhone Python plugin installed in the EventGhost Plugin directory and configured properly.

2. Start EventGhost PC. From a command prompt type "netstat -a" you should see....
Code: Select all
TCP    YOURPC:1025    YOURPC:0            LISTENING

IMPORTANT: If you do NOT see that then you have your antivirus/antispyware or Windows Defender preventing that port from being opened. You will need to add Port 1025 as an exception in whatever port blocking firewall/antivirus/Windows Defender you use.

A. Go into Control Panel->Security Center to tell Windows Firewall to allow eventghost.exe as an Exception.

B. Disable Windows Defender from starting altogether... ... s-Defender

C. Go into Control Panel->Security Center to get to the Windows Defender options and try opening Port 1025. ... b1033.mspx

3. Once you have netstat -a showing Port 1025 is listening then your Server is all set up.

4. In iPhone/iPod go to the Settings application and enter the IP Address correctly from your EventGhost PC Server. You can find your IPV4 address by typing "ipconfig" at the command prompt. It should look like 192.168.1.XXX or something similar.

5. Now that you have pointed your iPhone/iPod Touch to EventGhost, try and run EventPhone. If it says failed to connect then your Wireless Router is blocking Port 1025. You will need to go into your Router and change it to open up Port 1025. One user reported success by saying "It was a router issue, when I activated DHCP... port 1025 appeared in netstat and I could connect to EventGhost"

EG plugin should look like this....

And the iPhone Settings application should look like this with your IP Address and Password set correctly. To get your IP Address go to a Command Prompt and type "ipconfig" and it will show you your IPV4 Address of your PC to enter into the iPhone.

Hope that helps!
