STOPPED WORKING

Postby willie8 » Tue Dec 26, 2017 1:28 pm

I have been using x10 commander for a years with no problems until a couple of weeks ago. I have not changed any hardware. When I access Commander with my phone (Samsung S7) it comes up showing all controls on and wont control anything yet I can go to the computer and uncheck items to control and it sees that. Checked the port forwarding and windows firewall and all is good. Tried deleting and reinstalling the program on the computer and the app on the phone. Need some help on this one!

So the problem is not the phone its on the PC end.

Go into X10 Commander and right click on the tray icon and try and turn on/off one of your devices. If it doesn't work you know its your X10 Communication between your PC and your X10 Network is the issue.

Did you move your PC recently? Introduce noise on your lines? is the PC too far away from X10 Devices now?

I haven't changed anything. Didn't realize i could control the switched from the right click icon. It does not work from there. Noise isn't an issue. I have the x10 signal meter and it looks good. Active home works fine and on the same circuit. The x10 meter shows the device code going out with Active Home but not from x10 Commander. Port forwarding seems to be working as I can remove items from X10 commander and see them go on the phone app. Tried to uninstall x10 Commander and reinstall to no avail. Does the uninstall leave a footprint, a file that might be causing this?

Nope the problem is definitely between the PC and your X10 network. The phone app is fine.

Next to try is Right Click and Try and turn a light on and then click the Open Log File... button the PC UI to look at the log to look for errors. Something isn't communicating with your X10 Network.

Tried the right click turn on with no responce. opened x10 commander and looked at the log and there is nothing logged. Last entry is when x10 started after last computer reboot.

Hmm from looking at your log a couple of strange things...

1. Something tried to send a cookie to the running app which is not valid command for X10 Commander and got rejected.

Code: Select all
1/10/2018 2:06:52 PM [ INFO] COMMAND /*à Cookie: mstshash=Administr
1/10/2018 2:06:52 PM [ERROR] ERROR Unknown TCP Command
1/10/2018 2:06:55 PM [ INFO] SOCKET Socket Disconnected

2. It definitely is strange its not communicating with your X10 Device at all. I see this...

Code: Select all
1/12/2018 8:14:54 PM [ INFO] MENUExecuting Menu Option 1
1/12/2018 8:14:54 PM [ INFO] MENUTurning device B10 ON

I would expect to see then a log line of it trying to communicate to your CM15 or whatever module you have and getting a success or failure. here it looks like nothing is happening.

I assume software issue? I've tried to uninstall and reinstall several times.

What CM hardware are you using? Because you had this working before correct?

I unplugged it to remind myself as to which model I had (it's written on the back). After plugging it back in I tried it and it works! Never considered the problem to be there since it worked fine with Active Home and by itself. Thank you for sticking with me on this and sorry for wasting your time on something I should have already tried!
