iPhone unresponsive during PC program installation

Postby qmighty » Sat May 29, 2010 10:32 am

I've found that my iPhone remote becomes unresponsive when the ok/cancel pop up appears to install software on my PC. I'm running windows 7. Everthing works great otherwise.

BUt what is prompting you to install software? I don't think Intelliremote ever prompts you to install anything? Do you mean ANY old Windows Install software? Can you be more specific about your scenario?

Sure. I'm using intelliremote to use my iPhone as a remote for my HTPC. When using the mouse pad (iPhone intelliremote) to install software (or possibly to make any changes to the PC that prompts an ok/cancel prompt) the PC stops responding to anything I do with my iPhone-intelliremote. I've since noticed that it stops responding for some menus in control panel as well.

I should say that I'm not using the iPhone-intelliremote to install the software exactly, just the mouse and keyboard functions to get it done on the PC. When the ok/cancel pop up appears, however, the iPhone-intelliremote stops working, that is, the PC stops responding to it until I use an ordinary mouse to close the pop up. Hope the problem is clearer.

AHh OK now i understand. I think what might be happening is for any kind of prompt like that Windows is blocking all access until action is taken. I have seen this with UAC prompts in Windows 7 but never with just OK Cancel Dialogs.

So it is nothing specific in Intelliremote I am doing or not doing, I think this is just how Windows handles the situation.

Is there a way around it?

Not that I know of. It's at the Windows Operating System level and doing security blocking. there is nothing I can do to "code" around it. Microsoft is in total control.
