[SOLVED] Music Collection browsing on Remote (ipod)

Postby rkuba » Sun Mar 20, 2011 4:36 am

Hi All,
I'm new here and I'd like to ask for some assitance to get most out of Intelli* :
Which application combination ( remote hardware, remote software, intelli*, player software) to use to get WMP-like easy navigation on remote:
a) WMP-like easy navigation is ability to choose music of specific genre, by specific artist or by album
b) so that I can suspend and resume my PC running a server (will intelliremote running on iPod wake-up my PC via LAN magic packet ?)
c) Server must be capable of quality playback of lossless format: WMA or FLAC (Apple lossless I do not know really ) with metadata tag support
d) Server software: juke or WMP or whatever satisfies easy navigation by tag as in (a). I think server will run on my old pc (i865, Celeron 2,8GHz, wake-on-lan works OK, but it looses SRM-7500 connection after resume from S3).

Reagrds and thanks in advance for any suggestions
Kuba

For hardware like your SRM-7500 I am not sure there is a solution you are looking for. However if you have an Android or iPod/iPhone or Win7Phone based device I recommend...

...dumping WMP and switching to the incredible MediaMonkey...

Then you can use our MonkeyTunes plugin and have the exact remote you want on your

But as for a straight hardware remote like the SRM-7500 I do not know of any others...

Thanks a lot for an idea- I'll investigate DAAP/DACP path.
If I got it correctly, I manage server via DACP client (eg. iPod) and the DACP server equipped music player is either connected to quality sound card or is a DAAP (aka iTunes like) server streaming to AirPlay-compliant real hifi all-in-one with DAC (e.g. Marantz M-CR603) - this would overcome poor Marantz built-in library search and format inflexibility.

Does anybody know another (except for iTunes DAAP) standard (formal or actual) of media streaming?
regards and thanks, Melloware !

I think DAAP is pretty much the standard unless you buy an off the shelf system like a Sonos or another option might be SqueezeCenter from Logitech.
