[FIXED] Error: MediaMonkey Not Installed

OK I am also using MediaMonkey 3.0.4 and have it working on Windows XP and Windows Vista Ultimate 64.

It could be you are not an administrator of your machine and it won't allow you to install the COM object? This is actually a MediaMonkey problem, when you reinstall MediaMonkey its supposed to automatically register its COM object in Windows. And the fact you are seeing a regsvr32 error is probably why it did not install in the first place. Let me check the MediaMonkey forums to see if others are having this COM problem.

This confirms it from the MediaMonkey forums...you need to be an administrator for your machine to install the COM object.

Yep, that was it! I tried running the installer as administrator, but I didn't think to try running MediaMonkey once as administrator before running iMonkey-Server. Thanks for all the help!

I had all these issues, took me ages to fix. The final fix for me was this post:

You have to run Media Monkey once, as Administrator, as the COM object is registered not during install but when you run MM the first time. So now I am gonna try this little gadget.

Not sure if this will work with iMonkey though as iMonkey starts a MM instance but your registry thinks it is the one in C:\Program Files\ and not your portable one?

I have the same problem, I am running MM in several portable installations and would love to use iMonkey with one of them. I know and have monkeytunes too, but I still love to use imonkey as a little remote for showing the current track and rating it, especially in landscape mode.

Any idea on how to achieve this? I tried

MediaMonkeyCOM.exe /regserver (with the correct path to the .exe), but that didn't help.

Hmm, maybe I should have opened a new thread....

Anyway, one more crazy idea: More than one iMonkey server instances on the same PC each controlling a different (portable) MediaMonkey installation, would that somehow be possible?? I still have a bunch of Gen 1. iPod Touches and could put them to good use with imonkey...

Hmmm I think the app was meant to only run 1 instance against 1 running MediaMonday. However if you have multiple IPods they each should be able to control that one iMonkey.

As for the portable installation it definitely doesn't know where the COM object is registered too. I think there was a hack to achieve this somewhere on the MM forums.

I remember this being an issue with the portable installation. Something like this thread...
